An existing compilation of rear buildings is replaced by one new, pure shape. Since the house on the upper floors has already been renovated, the design envelope is limited to the ground-floor section. By giving the new roof an irregular tent shape, from which one section was removed, the light enters deep inside and the kitchen outside. The properties of steel windows are maximised here: on the one hand, they act as structural supports and, on the other, an outward-folding window is provided above the kitchen sink. In the small, necessary urban conversion, as much as possible was summarised. Both pragmatic and poetic.
